Apple Brings Hearing Aids Support To This Device With Medical Approval: Here Are The Details
AirPods Pro 2 have got new features at the iPhone 16 launch this week and one of them has got medically approved in the market.

Apple AirPods Pro is getting a very useful health feature that has now been approved by medical authorities as well. The company talked about the hearing aids feature that will be available on a select AirPods Pro model and with this clearance Apple now has the green flag to go ahead and publicly offer to the consumers.

What this means is that Apple can actually sell the AirPods Pro model as a viable alternative to traditional hearing aids that helps people with issues to use these for their needs. The approvals come via the US Food and Drug Administration which is the highest authority in clearing such health-centric devices.

Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen As Hearing Aids: How It Works

The fact that AirPods Pro 2nd gen can double up as hearing aids devices gives Apple more impetus to market the product for these capabilities later this year. AirPods Pro 2 are known for their quality active noise cancellation and audio output, but its effectiveness for hearing purposes seems to have impressed the FDA which explains the clearance from them in the form. Apple has even developed a certified audio hearing test which can determine if you need these AirPods are not. So, how does the new feature work on the AirPods Pro 2nd gen?

You need to take the Hearing Aid test using the AirPods Pro 2 that is paired with an iPad or iPhone. The test takes 5 minutes to give you the results that includes an audiogram to show your hearing ability and also details on the hearing loss in both the ears separately. Apple will keep the data secure in the Health app from where you can share it with the clinics and doctors.

Using these results, Apple will tune the AirPods Pro 2 with the right sound levels that can enhance your listening ability.

Like we said before, you can only use the hearing aid feature and get the test on the AirPods Pro 2 model. You also need to have an iPhone or an iPad that can run iOS 18 or iPadOS18 version that will be rolling out early next week. Apple also says that people who do not have hearing issues should not sign up for the feature.

AirPods Pro 2 price in India continues to be Rs 24,900. Apple will start taking pre-orders for the new-look AirPods Pro 2 in India and 100s of countries on September 13 which will go on sale from September 20 in the market.
