Telugu star Mahesh Babu is all geared up for his upcoming film Guntur Kaaram which releases on January 12. The actor has worked his way up to become one of the leading stars of Telugu cinema. Having debuted as a lead actor in the romantic comedy Rajakumarudu, Mahesh Babu’s choice of films has always led him on a straight path to success. However, there have been films that Mahesh Babu rejected and they went on to become big successes, propelling their lead stars to stardom. Let us take a look at some of these films.
Yamaleela
This 1994 fantasy movie was written by SV Krishna Reddy with Mahesh Babu in mind but Mahesh Babu was still completing his studies at that point and hence could not do the film. His father Krishna played a cameo in the film. Yamaleela was a box-office success and was remade in Hindi as Taqdeerwala.
Nuvve Kavali
K Vijay Bhaskar narrated the script of Nuvve Kavali to Mahesh Babu right after his first film but Mahesh Babu turned it down. Tarun made his debut as a lead actor in the film which became a success.
Idiot
Puri Jagannadh wanted to cast Mahesh Babu in Idiot and when he did not respond, he decided to cast Pawan Kalyan in Idiot. However, Pawan Kalyan also turned it down and Ravi Teja landed the role, which propelled him to stardom. Puri Jagannadh would later work with Mahesh Babu in Pokiri.
Manasantha Nuvve
This was one of the biggest Telugu hits of 2001 like Uday Kiran’s previous films Chitram and Nuvvu Nenu. However, before Uday Kiran, director VN Aditya wanted to cast Mahesh Babu in the film, who could not allocate dates to the director.
Ghajini
AR Murgadoss wanted to work with Mahesh Babu for a very long time and pitched the idea of Ghajini to him. But things didn’t work out between the two and the movie ultimately went to Suriya.
