Hazaribagh: Exuding confidence, senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said he would be able to take on his opponents as he had started electioneering 'long ago'.

"When my party informally conveyed me in November that I would be re-nominated it gave me sufficient time to start contact with the people, way ahead of my opponents," Mr. Sinha, former External Affairs Minister, told newsmen here on Thursday.

He is pitted against sitting CPI MP B P Mehta and Congress MLA Sourav Narayan Singh in the Hazaribag seat. "In my Jan Sampark Abhiyan (contact with the people) I covered all the 1736 booths of Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency and covered all the villages. I am confident of my victory this time," Mr. Sinha, who had lost to Mehta in the 2004 Lok Sabha election from the same seat, said.

If elected to the seat he would address the problems of shortage of drinking water, power crisis, inadequate health, and medical facilities, lack of irrigation facilities and open more schools, Mr. Sinha said.
