New Delhi: The Food Security Bill was not discussed at the UPA Coordination Committee meeting on Monday, clarified Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath. The meeting was held to discuss the deadly Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh that claimed lives of top state Congress leaders, including Mahendra Karma and Nand Kumar Patel among others.
"It was not a mere Naxal attack. It was an attack on the whole political system," said Nath. "There will an all party meeting on this. Home Minister (Sushil Kumar Shinde) will be having meeting with the chief ministers of the Naxal-affected states," he added.
UPA-II's showpiece social security legislations - the Food Security and Land Acquisition Bills -- have remained stalled for long. "Meeting was to discuss Naxal attacks. There was no discussion held on Food Security Bill," said Nath.
