Mumbai: The internal differences between leaders of Shiv Sena became public when a senior Shiv Sena leader, Manohar Joshi's residence was targeted with aggressive demonstrations by a group of Shiv Sainiks on Sunday.
This was the result of a long pending dispute over candidature in Dadar and Mahim constituencies.
"Those who were protesting were Shiv Sainiks, they were slowly getting violent but one Shiv Sena leader controlled them," said DCP Zone 4, Milind Bharambe.
Reacting to this, Manohar Joshi left it to Uddhav Thackeray to decide on what action to take against the protesters.
"Uddhav Thackeray will decide whether to take action against these people or not," said Joshi.
In the Maharahstra Assembly Elections which are a month away Shiv Sena will contest for 169 seats and BJP will contest 119 seats. MNS poses a threat to Shiv Sena in all Mumbai constituencies.
In the seat sharing talks with its alliance partner BJP, the Shiv Sena has already given away two seats in Mumbai, which were fought by Sena candidates in the last elections.
Sena working president Uddhav Thackeray is now under pressure to perform better. In all other Mumbai constituencies, sources say Uddhav wants to try new faces in some constituencies, which has created a rift with in the party.
Though this is not the first time that such postures by Sainiks have been seen, it has never been so aggressive against one of its own leaders.
