New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday returned from his two-week long holiday from Europe. Unlike his mysterious breaks, the Congress Lok Sabha MP from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh broke the news of his holiday destination on Twitter.

Rahul's return was being waited by his party with key Assembly elections and crucial Budget session round the corner. The party also wants to have a clear stand on the important GST and Real Estate bills.

Moreover, the Congress will have to take the long-pending decision on when Rahul will take over as the party president.

In the last few months Rahul has been very aggressive and also led his party during the Winter Session of Parliament. He has been trying too hard to revive the fortunes of his party which has been facing one electoral debacle after another in the last two years.

His leadership has been under question, especially after Congress was badly mauled by the Narendra Modi-led BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The party was reduced to just 44 MPs in the Lok Sabha which increased to 45 when it won the Ratlam-Jhabua seat in a byelection in November 2015.

Rahul had taken a mysterious break during Budget Session in early 2015 which had led to his rivals questioning his commitment towards Parliament. He was on a sabbatical for more than one month.

The Congress faced a lot of flak for Rahul going on leave right before the crucial Budget Session. He had reportedly gone on a sabbatical to reflect upon "recent events" and the future course of the party.
