Maoist shutdown affects train services
The CPI (Maoist) has called for a shutdown in Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal.

Ranchi: The two-day shutdown called by Maoists in the three eastern states - Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal - has affected train services. Several trains have been either cancelled or diverted to avoid Maoist-infested areas.

Security forces have been manning important places including railway tracks. The CPI (Maoist) has called for a shutdown in Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal demanding that six of their detained leaders should be produced in courts.

Palamau Express, Ranchi-New Delhi Garibrath and five local passengers were cancelled owing to the bandh, PRO (Dhanbad Railway Division), Amerandra Das, said.

The Howrah-Jabalpur Express, Jammu-Tavi Express and Ranchi-Ajmer Express were diverted via Rajbera-Gomoh- Mughalsarai, he said.

Loading and unloading of minerals have also been affected at several places as truckers are keeping away from Maoist areas, police said.
