Hyderabad: CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat on Wednesday pooh-poohed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's reported allegation that Congress had colluded with CPM in the state.
"Everybody knows that Trinamool Congress joined hands with Congress to fight the CPM and the Left Front in the last elections, that is just seven months ago... all the commitments she had made in the elections, she has not taken any steps to fulfil them.
"So, there is no use blaming CPM for everything. If anything goes wrong, she blames CPM. If Congress does something, that is also because of CPM," he said.
About coming assembly elections in five states, he said CPM was contesting nine seats in Punjab where an electoral understanding had been reached between CPI, CPM, Punjab People's Party and Akali Dal (Longowal).
CPM was also fighting 18 seats in Uttar Pradesh, six in Uttarakhand and two seats in Manipur, he said, hoping that the Left parties would win some seats.
