Bangalore: External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Friday declined to react to demands for his resignation following Karnataka police launching a probe into his alleged role in illegal mining when he was chief minister 1999-2004.
Krishna on Friday moved the high court, seeking quashing of the case against him.
"The issue is before the high court. It is coming up in the court sometime early next week. Let us wait the decision of the court," he told reporters at his residence here on arrival from New Delhi.
"I have no comments," he said on the demand for his resignation.
On a first information report (FIR) filed against him, Krishna said he does not want to comment on a matter pending before the court.
Parliament was stalled Friday as opposition parties demanded Krishna's resignation after Karnataka Police registered Thursday an FIR that marks the launch of probe against him, two other former chief ministers and 11 serving and retired senior officials over their alleged role in facilitating illegal mining.
The FIR was registered on a complaint by a Bangalore businessman and social activist, T.J. Abraham, that the three former chief ministers and the 11 officials had allowed illegal mining for monetary gains.
