New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday replied to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's allegations in the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) row and questioned if she is to be held responsible for everything.
"'Kya har cheez ke liye Sonia Gandhi doshi hai?' (Is Sonia Gandhi responsible for everything?)," asked the Congress President.
The remarks came after Jaitley in an interview to Times of India said, "One member of Parliament wrote to the Congress government. He met Sonia Gandhi and they said we will fix Jaitley. So they referred the case to the Serious Frauds Office. In 2013, the SFIO gave a report saying there are procedural irregularities in the company, no case of fraud is made out. The whole issue ended, but it has become a political controversy now."
Both BJP MP Kirti Azad and Aam Aadmi Party have alleged irregularities and financial bunglings in Delhi's cricket body during Jaitley's tenure as DDCA president.
Jaitley has filed a civil defamation case in the Delhi High Court against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders for false statements against him and his family members.
He will also be filing a criminal defamation suit against the AAP leaders in the Patiala House Court. Apart from Kejriwal, other AAP leaders who have been named in the suit are Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpayee.
