Rewari: With just four days left for Haryana Assembly elections, security has been beefed up across the state especially on the highways. Several cases of money laundering and liquor distribution are reported during the election season.

To check such notorious activities, the Election Commission has deputed policeman and district officials with cameras to ensure free and fair polls.

Speaking to IBNLive, Rewari Executive Magistrate Naresh Yadav said that checking has been on since the day polling dates were announced, ie September 12, and will continue till the evening of October 15.

The police personnel work 24X7 and check each and every vehicle for liquor sand cash thoroughly. The Election Commission has also deployed three flying squads for surprise checks.

While these officials make sure that no unruly activities take place during elections, they face certain challenges on duty. "There are many cars which come at a high speed and it is impossible for us to stop them. However, we are trying our best to check these cars too with our teams stationed further away on the route," Yadav said.

While security is beefed up at the entry/exit point of constituencies, policemen within the area also deal with crowded roads and traffic jams due to election campaign.

Constable Ishwar Singh of Karnal Traffic Police said that they have to manage huge traffic jams round the clock during elections and one of his colleagues added that after the whole day of work they need to take pills to get a sound sleep.
