New Delhi: The condition of BJP leader K Govindacharya, who was admitted to Apollo hospital on April 7 after he fainted at a function in Hisar in Haryana, worsened on Wednesday and he is being operated upon to remove a blood clot in his brain.

The 63-year old Swadeshi ideologue, Govindacharya, was responding well to medication when his condition suddenly deteriorated, hospital sources said.

"There were sudden complications in his condition and this morning doctors decided to operate upon him," hospital sources told PTI.

He started vomiting and sweating on Monday night and doctors conducted tests, which showed that the blood clot had swollen, making it necessary for them to remove it through operation, they said.

Doctors had earlier decided to dissolve the clot through medication to which he was responding well.

"He was very restless and we thought it was due to the side-effects of the medications. In fact, he was to be discharged from the hospital yesterday. But this sudden complications made the doctors decide to operate upon him," the source said.

Govindacharya was addressing a function of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch in Hisar when he fainted.
