Congress said it was not required after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote to the Gandhian.

New Delhi: The Congress party on Wednesday disapproved of the latest letter written by Digvijaya Singh to Anna Hazare, saying it was not required after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote to the Gandhian.

"After the Prime Minister's letter to Hazare, I don't think it was required to send any communication to him (Hazare)," party general Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters.

Dwivedi, who is the chief of AICC media department, said, "The whole country knows that RSS and BJP have repeatedly said that they are with Anna and they are making certain arrangement for their campaign."

A senior leader, who declined to be identified, said what was important "are the issues and not individuals".

Digvijaya, who had on Tuesday questioned Anna Hazare on why he was not attacking the BJP, on Wednesday shot off a second letter to Hazare raising the issue of RSS support to the activist and cautioned him that those around him were keeping him in dark.

He also enclosed a letter from RSS general secretary Suresh (Bhayya) Joshi to him, extending "full support" in his battle against corruption.

The Prime Minister had on Tuesday declared government's commitment to a strong Lokpal and wrote to Hazare saying that the Gandhian's demand for 'Right to Reject' provision in electoral law needed political consensus.
