Mumbai: The Shiv Sena has come out in support of Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi defending him over his marital status. The Sena, in its mouthpiece Saamana has hit out against the Congress over its attacks on his marital status.
In an editorial in Saamana, the party wrote, "The fact that the Congress thinks Modi's marriage is a matter of national discourse, shows their bankruptcy. Will discussing Modi's marriage bring down inflation, will it put back the money siphoned off in the coal scam back in the national coffers?"
"From all accounts Modi and Jashodaben were married at a very young age and it was a mutual decision that they will live separately and Modi became a pracharak," the editorial says.
Attacking the Congress, the Shiv Sena has said, "Those who think they can get Modi involved in a legal tangle on the issue are foolish. They (Congressmen) should get Rahul Gandhi married first before commenting on Modi's marriage."
