In its new list, the party named three candidates for Karnataka and two for Rajasthan

The Congress party on Friday released its ninth list of 5 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, bringing the total number of candidates declared by the party to 211.

In this new list, the party named three candidates for Karnataka and two for Rajasthan.

In Rajasthan, former Union Minister C.P. Joshi will contest for the Bhilwara seat, replacing Damodar Gurjar. Gurjar will instead run for the Rajsamand seat, replacing Sudarshan Rawat. The state has 25 parliamentary constituencies and will vote in two phases. Phase 1, scheduled for April 19, will see polling on 12 seats, while the remaining 13 seats will go to polls in the second phase on April 26.

In Karnataka, the party has fielded Sunil Bose in the Chamarajanagar (SC) reserved constituency. MLA E. Thukaram has been given the party ticket for the Ballari (ST) reserved constituency, and Raksha Ramaiah will contest from Chickballapur. The party has declared candidates for 27 out of the 28 constituencies in the state, with only Kolar left.

Earlier today, the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) announced their seat sharing formula for the upcoming general elections at a joint press conference. After a series of meetings between the top brass of both the parties, the tussle between the two has come to an end. RJD bagged the biggest share with 26 seats, while Congress got nine seats and the left parties will contest on five seats.
