Arvind Kejriwal requests L-G to dissolve Delhi Assembly
While addressing his supporters, Kejriwal accused the Congress and the BJP of putting roadblocks in AAP's fight against corruption.

New Delhi: Soon after announcing his resignation as the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal urged Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to dissolve the Delhi Assembly soon so that re-polling can be held.

The Aam Aadmi Party government resigned within 49 days of coming to power after facing a major embarrassment in the Assembly on Friday when the Speaker ruled against the introduction of the state government's Jan Lokpal Bill.

Addressing his supporters at the party's Hanuman Road office, Kejriwal accused the Congress and the BJP of joining hands, and taking help from big business leaders like Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani in putting roadblocks in the fight against corruption.

While the voting on the introduction of the Jan Lokpal Bill took place in the 70-member Assembly, 42 members were against it and only 27 were in favour of the Bill. Apart from the Aam Aadmi Party members, neither the Bharatiya Janata Party nor the Congress leaders were in favour of the Bill.

Kejriwal had maintained that he would resign from his post of the Chief Minister of the state if the Bill is not introduced and subsequently passed.
