INC?s Boddepalli Satyavathi won this seat in the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections beating the INC candidate by a margin of 16209 (13.56%) votes. Boddepalli Satyavathi polled 1,19,531 which was 40.26% of the total votes polled.
