A jeep carrying election officials was blown up in a landmine blast.

Raipur: Five election officials were killed on Thursday and two others injured when their vehicle was blown up in a landmine blast triggered by Naxalites in Rajnandgaon district, police said.

A jeep carrying election officials was blown up in a landmine blast when they were proceeding to supervise poll-related work in Kosmi and Kasamsara regions near Phulewada village, Rajnandgaon IG, Mukesh Gupta said.

Five officials died in the blast while two officials were injured in the incident.

Additional police force has been sent to the place of the incident, he said.
