'Won't Repeat What He Said': Commentators Decode Rohit Sharma's 'Not Very Nice' Frustration at Gill After Run Out

Runouts are frustrating, especially when the batter calls for a quick single and ends up losing his wicket due to his partner’s fault. Exactly this was the scenario after Indid began the chase of 159 and skipper Rohit Sharma looked to go off the mark. He had played an on-drive and rushed for a single but his partner, Shubman Gil didn’t pay heed to his partner’s call.

As a result, Rohit ended up being at the same end as his partner. The Indian skipper, who had returned to T20I set-up after 14 months bagged a 2-ball duck and was fuming while heading back to the dressing room.

The Jio Cinema commentators summarized the situation as Rohit vented out his anger on Gill who didn’t leave his crease.

“Look at him (Shubman), he is watching and watching. Rohit had called yes (for a run). Won’t repeat what he said because it is not very nice. But Rohit Sharma is absolutely spot on, he is in the right,” one of the commentators.

“There are two things in running between the wickets first is cross, and second the gauging the pace at which your partner can run. It is not about you being quick enough, it’s about what your partner wants, how good he is,” said the other commentator.

Rohit could not open his account after a mix up with Gill resulted in his run out. However, India’s 6-wicket win made the captain feel better as he said such things keep happening in cricket.

“These things happen (on the run-out). When it happens you feel frustrated, you want to be out there and score runs for the team. Everything will not go your way. We won the game, that’s more important. I wanted Gill to carry on, unfortunately, got out after playing a very good little innings,” Rohit said in the post-match presser.

India gunned down the 159-run target in 17.3 overs. Shivam Dube starred with an unbeaten 60 off 40 balls and also took a wicket with his medium pace.

“There are a lot of positives. Shivam Dube, the way Jitesh batted, Tilak as well and then Rinku is in good form as well,” Rohit said.

Rohit Sharma will be leading India’s charge once again as the Men in Blue hope to close out the series early with a second successive win.
