The admission process has begun at the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi from today – May 17 onwards. While most of the prominent universities are yet to start admissions, JMI has become one of the first to begin its admission process amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The varsity has released an e-prospectus for the academic session 2021-2022 for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The prospectus containing information about admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate, BTech, BArch, diploma, advanced diploma, postgraduate diploma courses can be downloaded from the university’s website www.jmi.ac.in and portal of the Controller of Examinations – www.jmicoe.in. Candidates can also start filling their application forms at the same websites. The online application form can be submitted up to June 30.
Students awaiting their class 12 results can also apply. The last date for submitting the qualifying exam result – which is class 12 marks in case of undergraduate admissions – is September 30.
In case of any mistake, while submitting the online application, or any change in marks, the application forms can be edited from July 1 to July 5. The varsity will hold an entrance exam for admission to 134 courses from July 26 to August 28. Considering the pandemic situation, however, the mode of the exam has not been known yet.
Jamia will release the admit Card for the entrance exam form July 15, onwards, as per the varsity. Notice regarding entrance test of part-time, certificate, diploma and an advanced diploma in language courses will be issued separately later.
Jamia has introduced eight new courses this year including master of design in the faculty of architecture, BA (Hons) French and Francophone Studies, BA (Hons) Spanish and Latin American Studies, MSc Environmental Science and Management, MA Mass Media (Hindi), PG Diploma in Translation Studies, PG Diploma in English-Hindi Translation, MBA in Healthcare and Hospital Management. The university is also starting four new departments from the coming session, namely, the department of design and innovation, the department of hospital management and hospice Studies, the department of foreign languages, and the department of environmental sciences.
