At least two people died while 18 others were injured after a massive fire broke out in Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area on Tuesday morning. According to Delhi Fire Service, ten fire tenders were rushed to the spot and firefighting operations are underway.
About 20 people have been rescued so far, while eight to 10 more are feared to be still trapped inside, officials said.
“20 people were rescued, out of which 18 are injured and two are dead, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) DK Mahla.
Earlier, police informed that injured people were shifted to the hospital, and all are stable and have minor injuries. “Two persons are dead. Their identity is being established. Age of deceased is 30-35 years,” police had said.
The fire was reported at 9.35 am in a footwear factory in Narela Industrial Area, Delhi police said in a statement.
According to the DCP, the blast happened after switching on a Polyurethane machine kept inside the factory. “Investigation is underway,” he said.
