In their first home fixture of the ISL season, Mumbai City FC defeated Kerala Blasters FC by 2-1.

In their first home game of the Indian Super League (ISL) season, Mumbai City FC clinched a narrow 2-1 victory against Kerala Blasters FC on Sunday, October 8 at the Mumbai Football Arena. The match witnessed a feisty clash between the two sides in the final few minutes. Multiple yellow cards and red cards were even brandished during the match. A video of the ugly fight has now gone viral on social media. In the now-viral clip, a few players can be seen attacking each other.

It was basically the final minutes when the players got involved in pushing and shoving, rather than displaying a good show of play. As the players got involved in an ugly fight, the referee can be seen intervening at the end.

Shared by a social media user on his handle ‘Ghar Ke Kalesh’, the post read, “Kalesh b/w Mumbai City FC and Kerala Blasters FC during ISL match.”

There were multiple funny reactions to the post. While some made fun of the clash between the teams, others called it a ‘common’ thing during football matches.

A user wrote, “Football turning out in Kabaddi”, while another one wrote, “Football me to normal baat hai.”

“Football without Kalesh is Food without Salt,” another user commented, while one person replied, “They consider themselves to be Premier League players.”

Another user shared a screenshot from the clip and highlighted how fans threw bottles at a player. “Fans with yellow shirts threw bottles at this player for poor performance. Imagine how shameful you must be to damage a player’s integrity,” he wrote.

While the game ended with a victory for Mumbai City FC, the post-game violence did leave football fans quite disappointed.

Coming back to on-field developments, held on Sunday, the ISL game exhibited Mumbai City FC’s sheer domination. It was Lalengmawia Ralte and Jorge Diaz who helped Mumbai City win its first home fixture of the ISL season. While the initial phase of the match proceeded in a smooth manner, the tempers flared up in the final moments, resulting in sending-offs from both sides.
