‘Took Different Stand as Per Political Situation of State’: Ajit Pawar on Why He Joined Maha Govt
Ajit Pawar, who wrote a letter to the people of Maharashtra after his NCP faction completed 100 days in Mahayuti, called himself a ‘true disciple’ of Yashwantrao Chavan. Ajit did not mention Sharad Pawar even once in the letter

With his faction completing 100 days in the Maharashtra government, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar wrote a letter to the people, assuring them to continue working on the ideology of Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu Maharaj, Jyotiba Phule, BR Ambedkar and former CM late Yashwantrao Chavan.

Pawar, who signed himself as the national president of NCP in the letter, explained his stand again after splitting from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which is headed by Sharad Pawar. “The political history of Maharashtra shows that many a time, political leaders in Maharashtra have taken different stand as per the political situation of the state. We have joined the ‘Mahayuti’ government by taking one such decision on July 2, 2023.”

Ajit Pawar calls himself a “true disciple” of former CM Chavan who had taught “politics of development and uplift of Bahujans”. He also said his party will be following this thought of Chavan and further continue to work for the people.

“Being people’s representative, it’s our duty to work for people. We should always strive to solve their problems as they have voted for us and we ‘owe’ them a lot. Every time is different and has different challenges in front of you,” he added.

In the same letter, Ajit Pawar mentioned the programmes his party will undertake on the issues of farmers, women and youth, and safeguard the rights of different sections of society. He also underlined working towards unemployment and inflation.

Interestingly, Ajit Pawar, who used to call Sharad Pawar his mentor, did not mention him even once in the letter.

After joining the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP government in Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar had clearly said at a press conference that he is the president of NCP. Recently, senior Pawar had said at Junnar rally that “people of Maharashtra and outside know who the founder of NCP is”, taking a dig at Ajit for joining the BJP.
