While Sonakshi Sinha was still in college, she got her first job. Despite her father Shatrughan Sinha’s fame as a film star and politician, she took pride in her job and the paycheck she took home. In a recent interview, Sonakshi reminisced about her first job as an usher where she unexpectedly met Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan. She revealed that she was still a college student when she landed the job through her fashion designing course at the Lakme Fashion Week.
“My first job as a volunteer from college, my salary was Rs 3000 for those five days of fashion week and I was an usher,” she shared with Mashable India. As part of her role, she was responsible for assisting people to their seats, and coincidentally, during one of the shows, Salman and Arbaaz were present in the audience. She was asked by Salman about her job and payment. When she told him her salary, he laughed and jokingly asked for a gift.
She recalled, “Salman asked, ‘What are you doing here?’ He asked, ‘You’re getting paid or no?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘How much?’” When she told him her salary, he laughed and jokingly asked for a gift. “I said, ‘Rs 3000.’ He started laughing at me and said, ‘Buy me a gift.’ Till date I haven’t given him a gift because I was like what do I give Salman Khan in Rs 3000,” she said.
They met by chance, and Arbaaz suggested Sonakshi for a project he was working on. A year and a half later, Salman and Arbaaz offered her a role in Dabangg, making it her first film. Despite not planning to be an actor, Sonakshi discovered she loved being on set.
