A prominent name in Tamil cinema, actor Soori is enjoying the success of his latest release Garudan. In a recent media interaction, the actor recalled his early days in the industry and the experiences he went through as a struggler, grateful for the success that followed.
Soori entered the film industry through a comic role, which immensely helped him with popularity among the masses. However, during his early days in the industry, he had to suffer a lot to even bag a small role in a film. In a new interview, the actor revealed, “At the door of AVM studios, they would pick up people to act as crowds in films, and I would go there and beg them to come too.”
Continuing, the actor stated that a woman named Sumathi spotted him begging to be a part of the film. So, out of pity, she told one of the assistant directors about him and that is how he landed his first role. The film is Maru Malarchi, a Mammootty starrer released in 1998.
Since then, he has worked on several projects like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Sundarapandian, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, Pandiya Naadu, Jilla and more. He debuted as a lead actor through the film Viduthalai Part 1, released in 2023. The film is directed by Vetrimaaran, who has co-written it with B Jeyamohan. The cast includes names like Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre and Gautham Vasudev Menon. It is produced by Elred Kumar under the banners of RS Infotainment and Grass Root Film Company. The music in the film is composed by Ilaiyaraaja while the cinematographer is R Velraj and R Ramar has done the editing. It was released on March 31, 2023.
Recently, Soori was seen in Garudan as the lead. It is made under the direction of R S Durai Senthilkumar. The cast includes Soori, M Sasikumar, Unni Mukundan and Roshini Haripriyan in important roles. It is produced by Vetrimaaran and K Kumar under Grass Root Film Company and Lark Studios banners. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music.
