'Udta Punjab' Controversy: Bombay High Court To Pass Order Today
The cuts ordered by the CBFC include the deletion of the sign board of Punjab, the removal of any reference to any city, town or district in the state.

The Bombay HC will pronounce its order today on the petition filed by the makers of the movie ‘Udta Punjab’ against the cuts ordered by the CBFC.

The cuts ordered by the CBFC include the deletion of the sign board of Punjab, the removal of any reference to any city, town or district in the state.

The deletion of words election, MP, MLA, party worker, Parliament as well as cuss words including a disclaimer that the filmmaker acknowledges the government's battle against drugs.

The makers of the film called the cuts unwarranted and unconstitutional - while the High Court observed that the CBFC must leave it to citizens to decide what is appropriate to view.

Nihalani, who was eanred filmmakers’ wrath for suggesting several cuts, has now said that the nine members of the Central Board of Film Certification watched the film and "unanimously" cleared it after the proposed 13 cuts.

"The CBFCs job is now over. It is now up to the producer to go to the court or tribunal. We will implement the order," Nihalani said.

The Abhishek Chaubey-directed film is tentatively scheduled for release on June 17.
