Takht: Here is What Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh Will Play in Karan Johar's Film
The big-budget ensemble film will also star Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in important roles.

Though it has been a while since Karan Johar announced Takht, his next directorial venture which he calls “the K3G of the Mughal era but more extreme, with more betrayal and the tropes of court politics," not much was known about the film, until now.

During the recent annual actors’ roundtable of News18 film critic Rajeev Masand, Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh revealed that they’d be playing Aurangzeb and his elder brother Dara Shikoh, respectively, in Johar’s magnum opus.

A Times of India report earlier speculated that the big-budget ensemble film will star Kareena Kapoor Khan as Shikoh and Aurangzeb’s sister Jahanara, Anil Kapoor as their father Shah Jahan, Alia Bhatt as Shikoh’s wife, Bhumi Pednekar as Aurangzeb’s wife and Janhvi Kapoor as a slave girl.

Masand’s roundtable also featured other outstanding actors of the year, including Rajkummar Rao (for Stree), Ayushmann Khurrana (Badhaai Ho, AndhaDhun) and Pankaj Tripathi (Stree).

Other than Takht, both Singh and Kaushal have a slew of interesting projects lined up. Singh will star opposite Sara Ali Khan in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, which is slated to release on December 28 and alongside Alia Bhatt in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. He is also slated to play veteran cricketer Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83.

Meanwhile, Kaushal will next be seen alongside Yami Gautam in Uri: The Surgical Strike, an action drama based on the now-famous surgical strikes of 2016.
