Malayalam actors Sharafudheen and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s upcoming film Padakkalam has officially begun production on Friday, July 12. The upcoming project officially began production with a puja ceremony held at the Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple in Kochi. The Padakkalam’s cast and crew attended the puja ceremony. Vijay Babu, Karthik, Yogi G Raj, and Vijay Subramaniam have produced this film under the banners of Friday Film House and Kannada’s leading production house KRG Studios. The backdrop of this film will be set on a college campus, where 4000 children are completing their education. Producers Vijay Babu and Karthik gave the first clap for Padakkalam, indicating the start of its shooting. Manu Swaraj will make his debut in direction with this project, after having gained significant experience as a key assistant. He has worked with the film writer Justin Mathew and director Basil Joseph for a long time and has also produced several short films.

The Padakkalam’s cast and crew posed for the cameras when the production started.

The production houses have also unveiled an animated promo of Padakkalam. With animation and music, the promo looks appealing.

Besides Sharafudheen and Suraj, actors Niranjana Anoop, Sandeep Pradeep, Saafboi, and Arun Pradeep will play prominent roles. Actors Arun Ajikumar, Ishan Shoukath, and Pooja Mohanraj will also enact key roles in Padakkalam which gives a mesmerising depiction of the student’s life on the college campus. Apart from these renowned Malayalam stars, many new actors have also been introduced in Padakkalam. Manu and Nithin C Babu have jointly scripted this film. Its technical crew comprises cinematographer Anu Moothedath, editor Nidhin Raj Arol, and composer Rajesh Murugesan. Rajesh Murugesan is best known for his work in the Nivin Pauly-starrers Neram (2013) and Premam (2015).

In an interview with a portal, producer Vijay Babu said that Padakkalam will be presented on a massive budget with the participation of many child actors.

As per the reports, this film is billed to be a clean entertainer with all the appealing elements. Reportedly, the shooting of Padakkalam will commence at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, in August’s first week.
