Sohum Shah Says Shah Rukh Khan Is 'God' To Him, Recalls Superstar Inspired Him To Come To Mumbai

Sohum Shah has been a popular name ever since his movie Tumbbad released in 2018. The film had received critical acclaim upon its premiere and recently it was re-released in theaters. The film has garnered a lot of positive feedback from the audience. Recently, in an interview, Sohum Shah talked about his inspiration behind setting foot in the industry and revealed how superstar Shah Rukh Khan had a big role to play.

During an interview with Pinkvilla, Sohum Shah revealed that Shah Rukh Khan has been the link or drive behind his decision to join the industry. He added that if the superstar had not come to Mumbai, many people from different cities would not have tried their luck. Sohum Shah expressed, “Agar Shah Rukh Khan saab nhi aate toh aaesa hota ke ye Bombay, industry ke logon ki cheez he hai. Bahar ke aadmi k liye darwaze nhi khuule hue hai, vo participate nhi kar sakta (If Shah Rukh Khan hadn’t come, it would have been like the industry is of the people of Bombay. Outsiders are not welcomed, and they can’t participate).”

Sohum added that since childhood, he grew up with the belief that he can go to Mumbai and accomplish things because Shah Rukh Khan did so. The superstar also came from Delhi and, as an outsider, built a reputation for himself in the industry. It reassured Sohum that even he can try. He noted, “Boht he inspirational raha hai Shah Rukh Khan saab ka safar.”

Sohum Shah also recalled how Shah Rukh Khan had liked the trailer of Tumbaad back in 2018 and reacted to it as well. He added that for him, the superstar was like god. “Aapke liye kya Bhagwaan se kya kum hoga koi aadmi (He is not less than God to me),” Sohum added. He also noted how he waited for Shah Rukh Khan’s interviews. Lastly, the actor admitted that it was a ‘Dream Come True’ moment for him when he met Shah Rukh Khan, and the latter praised his work.

Meanwhile, Sohum Shah has already announced Tumbbad 2 and shared a preview for the sequel on social media. Rahi Anil Barve directed the first part, Tumbbad, with Adesh Prasad as co-director. The film was produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L Rai, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah.
