Singham Again: Fans Divided Over Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone's Trailer, Some Say 'Original Is Better'

The trailer for Ajay Devgn’s highly anticipated film Singham Again has officially dropped on YouTube and social media, marking a significant moment in Bollywood. At 4 minutes and 57 seconds, it’s now the longest trailer in the history of Hindi cinema. However, not everyone is impressed, with many netizens criticizing the extended length and action sequences.

Drawing inspiration from the epic Ramayana, the film casts Tiger Shroff as Lakshman to Ajay Devgn’s Lord Rama, with the duo joining forces to combat the modern-day demon king in “Danger Lanka.” While the premise intrigued some, many viewers took to social media to express their disappointment.

One user joked, “Puri film toh idhar hi dekha di, Ek sirf Salman ka cameo bacha hai, ushe dekhne ke liye theatre jaana padega.” Another commented, “What in the world of Ramayan is happening here?” Criticism also extended to comparisons with the original Singham, with one viewer stating, “Original Singham toh iske aage Godfather lag rahi hai.” Others noted that the trailer felt more like a short film, with one remarking, “Ye pura Singham Again short film version dekha diya.” Another user humorously quipped, “This looks like a 350 crore SNL sketch where everyone just shows up on set, forgetting their lines, and improv-ing the cheesiest, most cringe-worthy dialogues ever written.”

Deepika Padukone’s performance didn’t escape scrutiny either, with a viewer noting, “Those lines from Deepika literally sound dubbed. Disastrous stuff.”

Despite the criticism, Singham Again maintains the high-octane action expected from a Rohit Shetty film, featuring his signature car stunts and adrenaline-pumping sequences. The story hints at a grand showdown as all the heroes unite to face a powerful villain.

The trailer was launched in grand style at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), with key cast members like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Tiger Shroff in attendance. Deepika Padukone, however, missed the event due to maternity leave after welcoming her daughter with Ranveer Singh.

Rohit Shetty’s Singham franchise has been a fan favorite, known for its gripping action and anti-corruption themes. The original Singham (2011) saw Bajirao Singham take on corrupt politician Jaikant Shikre, a role that resonated with audiences due to its powerful dialogues and intense action. Singham Returns (2014) followed, with even higher stakes as Singham faced off against corrupt officials in a broader political narrative.

Singham Again is slated for a Diwali release, where it will clash with Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Despite rumors of Kartik Aaryan requesting a delay, the film is set to hit theaters as scheduled, promising a high-stakes box office battle.
