Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan deported from Hyderabad; flies back to the city via Delhi later

Popular Pakistani singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was deported from Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday morning and sent back to Abu Dhabi. The singer and flown in to perform at Taj Falaknuma Palace for New Year's Eve but with moments of arriving at the city, the authorities asked him to fly back to Abu Dhabi.

According to media reports, the singer was barred from entering the city because of some technical issues with his documents. But the singer took a flight from Abu Dhabi later in the day to New Delhi and flew to Hyderabad in a chartered flight. His program, which was scheduled to begin at 8 pm, had to be rescheduled for 11pm.

According to a report in Times of India, immigration rules in India state that any Pakistani national wanting to enter India can only do so through select cities. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai are the only cities which allow legal entry via air.
