Sharmila Tagore Admits Being An 'Absent' Mother In Saif Ali Khan's Childhood: 'I Made Mistakes, Was Busy'
Sharmila Tagore said that she wasn't much present for the first six years of Saif Ali Khan's life.

At a recent Mother’s Day event with her granddaughter Sara Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore opened up about her first time being a mother. She said that she had a busy work schedule when Saif Ali Khan was born and was an absent mother. However, by the time she had her daughters Saba Pataudi and Soha Ali Khan, she learnt from her previous experience and was there for them.

The Indian Express quoted Sharmila Tagore as saying, “When I had Saif, I was very busy. I was working two shifts a day and for the first six years of his life, I was really absent. I did whatever I had to do. I went to the parent-teacher meeting and attended his plays but I don’t think I was a full-time mom. My husband (Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi) was there, but I wasn’t. Then when I became a mother, I became an overzealous mother. I wanted to feed him, bathe him and everything. That was the other side of the pendulum. I made a few mistakes, honestly.”

“But he has grown up pretty okay. My husband was there, and we had the support of the extended family and my friends. One of his schoolteachers would live across the apartment in Mumbai. She and her husband really looked after Saif as well… For the girls I was there,” she added.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Saif Ali Khan is gearing up for the release of Devara. The film stars Jr NTR in the lead and also marks Janhvi Kapoor’s debut in the South film industry. Saif Ali Khan will play the role of a police officer in this Telugu-language film.

Saif is also working on a film with Siddharth Anand. As per reports, Siddharth will be producing the film under his banner, Marflix Productions. It will be directed by one of his assistant directors. The film promises to be a high-octane affair, filled with intense action sequences, gripping storytelling, and the trademark style which Siddharth Anand is known for. The other details are currently kept under wraps. Reportedly, this film will be released on Netflix. Industry insiders have revealed that the film will showcase Saif Ali Khan in a new and dynamic avatar.

As per new reports, the actor also is in talks with Priyadarshan, who is all set to make a thriller film. Saif Ali Khan has been offered to play the part of a blind man in the film and the actor has shown some interest to play the part. If things fall in place, Priyadarshan will shoot for the Saif Ali Khan starrer in July and August, as per the report.
