Salman Khan's Ex Somy Ali Opens Up About Horrific Experience: Was Sexually Abused at 5
Actress Somy Ali, who owns the NGO 'No More Tears,' said that she was sexually abused as a child at separate incidents that started when she was five years old.

Actress Somy Ali, who has appeared in many Bollywood movies and now runs an NGO called No More Tears opened up about horrific experiences she faced as a child. The actress opened up about being abused at the age of 5, 9 and 14.

Talking to Peeping Moon, she said, “The first time I was sexually abused in Pakistan, I was 5 years old. There were 3 incidents in the servant’s quarters. I told my mum and dad, actions were taken. But what my parents told me is that ‘Beta yeh kisiko batana nahi’ (Don’t tell this to anyone). In my head, I lived with that for years. I thought, ‘Did I do something wrong? Why was I told by my parents?’ Pakistan and Indian cultures are very image-based. They were protecting me but I didn’t understand it. Again there was an incident at 9, then again at 14.”

She added that she started speaking out three years ago, even though she has been running an NGO since 14. She added that she felt like a hypocrite for not speaking up sooner.

Somy was born in Karachi, Pakistan. Her mother Tehmina is from Iraq, and her father Madan is from Pakistan. After studying at the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Karachi till age 12, she, her mother and brother moved to Florida. She has worked in films such as Anth (1994), Yaar Gaddar (1994), Andolan (1995), and Chupp (1997), among others. She was in a relationship with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in 1991.
