Rajinikanth is busy filming his popular larger-than-life movies for his fans across India. Currently, he’s in the Himalayas, meeting saints and sages. In a recent chat with a saint, he talked about his upcoming films – Vettaiyan and Coolie. Rajinikanth shared that Vettaiyan will release around Dussehra. He said, “I have completed my portions. The shooting with other members of the cast is still going on. The film will release on October 10 or so.” He added, “There’s a new picture (Coolie) as well. I start shooting for it from June 10 onwards.”
Vettaiyan, produced by Subaskaran Allirajah for Lyca Productions, is a Tamil action-drama starring Rajinikanth. The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan in key roles. Directed by T J Gnanavel, with music by Anirudh Ravichander, SR Kathir serves as the cinematographer, and Philomin Raj handles the editing. In the middle of May, Rajinikanth had taken a break from his acting schedule and flew to Abu Dhabi. He was spotted at the Chennai International Airport from where he boarded the flight to Abu Dhabi. As per reports, Rajinikanth was on a holiday for a week in the country.
The Tamil stalwart also has Coolie in the pipeline. Coolie is Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The latter had previously worked with Kamal Haasan in the action-thriller, Vikram. The film was earlier given a temporary title – Thalaivar 171. Coolie is produced by Sun Pictures and was announced in September 2023. Sivakarthikeyan is rumored to play a crucial role in Coolie. However, the rest of the cast is yet to be announced. Composer Anirudh Ravichander and stunt director duo Anbariv have also been roped in for the film.
Lokesh Kanagaraj has recently unveiled Coolie’s title teaser. The video commences with several gold smugglers checking on their inventory of bars, watches, jewellery and other items. Soon, Rajinikanth breaks into their lair and beats them using a chain made of gold watches. The video ends with lair whistling Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam from the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The trailer has garnered over 13 million views and counting.
