Parineeti Chopra received acclaim for her stellar performance in Imtiaz Ali’s recent Netflix hit, Amar Singh Chamkila. Following its release, the actress took a well-deserved 15-day break to spend time with her husband, Raghav Chadha. Now back at work, Parineeti recently discussed her career trajectory in an interview, candidly admitting to having chosen some film roles for the wrong reasons in the past.
During a chat with India Today, Parineeti Chopra shared, “The plan is just to do films that feel right. I have done films for the wrong reasons. Sometimes, I have done films that I may not have believed in. It feels like there is homework for me to do when the audience is going to get a crazy good performance out of me. It just motivates me to do such roles that need homework. Homework that maybe nobody else can do.”
Parineeti also spoke about her co-star Diljit Dosanjh and revealed that both of them worked hard to break many stereotypes through the film. The actress said, “There are many things that Diljit and I both did in this film under the leadership of Imtiaz sir, which are not usually done. And, that motivates me to take more risks because we trust the audience. They accept us when we do such kinds of things.”
Parineeti Chopra also shared that she took significant risks and gave her best performance in the film. She mentioned putting on 16 kg for the role, an effort she believes only a few actresses would undertake.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Amar Singh Chamkila is a biography drama that portrays the life of pop star duo Amar Singh Chamkila (Played by Diljit) and Amarjot Kaur (Played by Parineeti). Their songs featured bold lyrics and became massive hits in the 80’s.
Workwise, Parineeti will be next seen in director Anurag Singh’s upcoming thriller film Sanki. The film is about a police officer who retires after an accident during a case investigation. Years later, he is reliving the past as he recounts the story to his friend’s son. The film also features Varun Dhawan in the lead role. The actress will be also seen in Karan Sharma’s Shiddat 2, which also stars Sunny Kaushal and Amyra Dastur.
