The landslides that took place in the town of Shirur have claimed numerous lives. It was reported the truck of Arjun with his body was recovered from the Gangavalli River by the rescue officials on Wednesday, September 25. Actress Manju Warrier penned an emotional message on her social media handle. The reports state that after 71 days of intense search, the officials recovered Arjun’s body and the vehicle.
Posting a picture of Arjun on her Facebook handle, Manju Warrier wrote, “At last, we got you back, only to feel the pain of your loss. All the memories will soon turn to ashes. Dear Arjun, you will live on forever in the hearts of Malayalis," when translated to English.
Arjun, aged 32, went missing on July 16 after his truck was hit in a landslide while he was on his way back to Edavanna from Ramanagar, Belgaum district. He reportedly went there to bring acacia logs from a depot.
Adding to it, eight more people lost their lives in the natural calamity. The search operation was started soon after reports of the incident came out. It was halted for some days due to adverse climatic conditions. After resuming the operation, the local administration failed to trace any human body leading them to stop the search. The operation was restarted following an order by Karnataka High Court.
Speaking about the search operation an official said, “The search team managed to look for the cabin of the truck, which was pulled out from the water at around 4 pm yesterday. Munaf, the truck’s owner, identified the truck." “The state of the truck’s cabin reflects the severity of the landslide. It was pulled out of the water in a very bad condition," the official added.
Popular actor Mohanlal also posted an emotional message in remembrance of Arjun.
He posted a picture on his Facebook handle and captioned it, “We prayed for you, dear Arjun. Tearful tributes to our dear brother."
