Kate Winslet On Her Retirement Plans: ‘I Am Never Getting Old’
While promoting her new film Lee, Kate Winslet was asked about her plans once she decide to step back from acting.

Kate Winslet recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she opened up about her retirement but isn’t ready to share the details. While promoting her new film, Lee, the Titanic star was asked about her future plans, particularly since she hasn’t taken on any new projects in the past year. Instead of giving a straightforward answer, Winslet cleverly sidestepped the question, stating that her plans are too “inappropriate," “rude," and “s***al" to share with the world. Her intriguing reply elicited laughter from the audience. In a lighthearted tone, she also humorously proclaimed her intention to never grow old.

During one of the segments, when Colbert asked, “We never want you to retire but what is your retirement fantasy? What would you do?" To this, the Mare of Easttown actress said, “I don’t think I would say what I can do because it is so inappropriate. I can’t. I actually can’t. Because it is rude and s***al, so I can’t say it. I am not never getting old. That’s all I need to say right now. I’m never getting old. No retiring for me never."

In a 2017 interview with Bazaar, Kate Winslet shared her determination to continue acting well into her 90s. She expressed her desire to avoid fading from the spotlight after winning an Oscar, stating, “I don’t want to be a person who won an Oscar and then disappeared off the face of the Earth. I want to be the person who is still here acting their socks off aged 90. And you don’t get there by being complacent."

Meanwhile, Kate Winslet produced and stars in her upcoming film Lee, which is based on the life of Lee Miller, an American model turned photojournalist who worked for British Vogue during World War II. During her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Winslet revealed that she had long admired Miller due to her love for photography and fascination with women who broke barriers in male-dominated industries. After deciding to create a biopic about Miller, Winslet met with Miller’s son, Antony Penrose, who provided invaluable insights and information that helped bring the project to life.

Other than Kate Winslet, Lee also stars Alexander Skarsgard, Andy Samberg, Josh O’Connor, Andrea Riseborough and Marion Cotillard.
