JP Dutta All Set To Make His OTT Debut With War Drama
As per the updates, the series will be backed by his daughter, Nidhi Dutta, under their banner.

Remember the movie – Border, the iconic blockbuster that not only shattered box office records but continues to garner immense love for its gripping storyline and performances. The ambitious war drama was directed by JP Dutta, popular for making patriotic films. If the reports are to be believed, the veteran director is now set to foray into the OTT platforms and will soon be serving the audience with another big-scale nationalistic film.

A report by Mid-day suggests that the upcoming series by JP Dutta will be based on a real war and the script for the same has been locked. The portal further quoted a source as saying, “Disney+ Hotstar is keen to begin the shooting as soon as possible.” As per the updates, the series will be backed by his daughter, Nidhi Dutta, under their banner.

Before JP Dutta, Nidhi’s husband and director Binoy Gandhi was expected to direct the series. However, he is busy filming Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon-starrer Ghudchadi. Given Binoy’s busy schedule, Dutta came on board, donning the hat of the director for the series. The source further informed, “It’s an ambitious project for the streamer, and the top brass didn’t want to wait too long to kick-start it.” Reportedly, the makers will soon commence the casting for the film.

Apart from the upcoming series, Dutta has also another project lined up for this year.

The LOC: Kargil director will soon be dropping another installment of Border 2, led by Sunny Deol and Ayushmann Khurrana. The upcoming sequel has been set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan war and will showcase the personal stories of the war heroes.

Earlier in 2023, reports surfaced claiming that Kartik Aaryan was in talks with Nidhi Dutta to play a pivotal role in the film. Dismissing the reports, an official spokesperson of the team said, “In response to the ongoing speculations, T-Series and Nidhi Dutta’s sources have refuted the claims of approaching Kartik Aaryan for Border 2. These rumours are baseless and lack any factual basis. The film’s supporters are urged to dismiss such misinformation and trust only authentic updates from official sources.”
