Jennifer Lopez has opened up about how her separation from Ben Affleck has changed her life and her perspective on love. She filed for divorce from the Argo star in August. Speaking with Interview Magazine, Lopez claimed that she was no longer looking for a partner and explained that while she once believed she needed someone else to make her happy, she now felt comfortable alone. This comes after the release of a documentary titled, “This Is Me Now and The Greatest Love Story Never Told”. It focuses on her relationship with Affleck. The pop sensation now believes that everything that happened in the past was meant to be.
She also mentioned that understanding marriage and relationships took her longer than expected, and she had no regrets. The singer said, “I’m not looking for anybody, because everything that I’ve done over the past 25-30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f****ng do when it’s just me flying on my own. For people who are romantics and love being in relationships and want to grow old with somebody, we think, ‘I have to have that to be whole and happy,’ and you don’t.”
“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F**k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f****ng sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again’,” Jennifer Lopez added.
During the interview, the pop sensation shared that she initially felt accomplished and proud of the progress she had made in her life and career. However, everything changed suddenly and she realised how her upbringing affected her adult relationships. In the past, she accepted being ignored or treated poorly because it felt familiar. Throughout her life, she believed she was not good enough, but now, she recognises her achievements and gives herself credit for the hard work. After everything she has gone through in her personal life and career, she understands the importance of giving herself love and comfort.
Jennifer Lopez also shared her excitement about returning to her tour and feels lucky to have fans who are caring and understanding. The singer explained she was deeply saddened to postpone her performances, but she needed time to focus on her children and take care of herself. She described that period as one of the hardest, but it also allowed her to work on herself and grow.
