Is Lokesh Kanagaraj's Upcoming LCU Short Film Titled Pillayar Suzhi? Read On
The Leo director’s short film will mark the introduction of his cinematic universe to his viewers and make the trend clearer for those still confused about it.

Lokesh Kanagarj is one of the prominent directors in the Tamil film industry. He is credited as the first South Indian filmmaker to come up with his cinematic universe called Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and Kaithi, Leo and Vikram are a part of it. A few months back, it was reported that the ace director was planning to make a short film to explain the origin of LCU to his audience and fans.

The Leo director’s short film will mark the introduction of his cinematic universe to his viewers and make the trend clearer for those still confused about it. As per the latest updates, the shoot for the short film has been wrapped up and will be unveiled soon. Also, social media is buzzing with reports that the short film has been titled Pillayar Suzhi, which when translated to English means The Beginning. Also, it looks like the director has also chosen an apt time for the release of his upcoming project. As per reports, Arjun Das, Narain and Kalidas Jayaram have featured in the short film.

Apart from this, Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently busy with his next highly-anticipated film, Coolie, which will mark his first collaboration with superstar Rajinikanth. The film will go on the floor in June. The Rajinikanth-fronted film will not be a part of the LCU and will be a standalone one whose pre-production will be wrapped up soon.

The Kaithi director kickstarted his film career by directing a short film titled Acham Thavir which won him the best director, best film and best actor awards at the short film festival Clubace. His next movie was Maanagaram, which marked his debut as a feature director. After this, he introduced the industry to the first instalment of LCU, Kaithi, starring Karthi, Narain, Arjun Das and Harish Uthaman to name a few. He then delivered delivered a commercial success with Thalapathy Vijay with the film, Master. In 2022, he roped in superstar Kamal Haasan for the second instalment of LCU, Vikram, which catapulted the director into stardom and fame.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s last released film Leo, featured Thalapathy Vijay, Trisha Krishnan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Sarja which earned him many accolades and praise.
