Shraddha Kapoor rose to prominence in Bollywood after her outstanding performance in Aashiqui 2. The film’s success surely helped her make a name for herself in the industry. Even though it has been more than a decade since the film’s theatrical premiere, fans have been eagerly waiting for the third installment in the Aashiqui franchise. Although there is no confirmation if and when the next film would be made, Shraddha Kapoor did not rule out the possibility. The actress opened up about whether Aashiqui 3 was on the cards and whether she would be open to taking it up.
Shraddha spoke on her journey to date in the film industry at the NDTV World Summit 2024. Among other things, she discussed the affection she received for Aashiqui 2. When asked if Aashiqui 3 was on the cards, Shraddha reacted saying, “Not that I know of. But because, I mean, I’m sure if the makers thought of a sequel, they would think of something very, very interesting. And, of course, Aashiqui gave me so much love, so much appreciation. The story, that’s the film where everything changed for me.”
Furthermore, Shraddha shared if she would be part of the franchise again if the third installment was to be made. The actress stated, “I’m sure that if they do come up with something, it would be really, really awesome. And you know, if I feel like it is something challenging for me as an actor, something different for me to do, I would be open to it.” She also noted that she has much more clarity now and only wants to be part of films that really excite her and the audience.
Aashiqui 2 released in 2013 and the Mohit Suri film left a major impact on Bollywood storytelling and music. It featured Aditya Roy Kapur opposite Shraddha. Aashiqui 2 came to Shraddha years after her acting debut in Teen Patti (2010).
Meanwhile, Shraddha is enjoying the success of Stree 2, which also stars Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee. It was released on August 15, with other popular Hindi films such as Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. The film grossed more than Rs 700 crore in India.
