The shoot of the first season of Kapil Sharma’s The Great Indian Kapil Show has been wrapped and the makers have assured fans they will return soon with another exciting season. However, before the finale episode, buzz is that guests like Anil Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, and, in fact, international singer Ed Sheeran will also be marking their attendance for the show.
Reporter Manav Manglani took to his Instagram handle to share the news. His post read, “Get ready for more laughter as The Great Indian Kapil Show gears up for its next 7 episodes, featuring stars like Ed Sheeran, Anil Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, and many others! The fun will continue this entire summer, so brace yourselves for another round of hilarious moments!.”
Earlier, while speaking to News18, Kiku Sharda revealed that the show is going off-air and promised that the wrap-up is only “temporary.” The show hasn’t been cancelled and will be returning back with an even more exciting season.
Kiku revealed that the team shot the last episode of the Netflix original ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ on May 1. He stated that even though five episodes of the comedy show have been released so far, eight more will be out soon. Following this, Kapil will take a small break and then return with the second season of his show.
“We have done 13 episodes, and the second season will come out soon. We have just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the next season, and it will come out soon. There won’t be a very huge gap,” he told us.
The comedian further admitted that the show used to run for a longer time on television but added that they switched to digital to try a different format. “On television, it used to be longer, but it is about different formats. This is also interesting. There will be a short gap now, and the second season will be back soon. It sounds like a wrap because we make it look like it. But it is temporary. We will be functioning soon again,” he added.
The Great Indian Kapil Show premiered on Netflix on March 30, 2024, with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as the first guests. In the second episode, the actor-comedian welcomed cricketers Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra graced the show’s third episode to promote their film, Amar Singh Chamkila. They were also joined by the director of their movie, Imtiaz Ali.
The fourth episode of Kapil’s show saw brothers Vicky and Sunny Kaushal recalling their childhood memories and making everyone go ROFL. The fifth episode, which premiered earlier this week, saw Aamir Khan as the guest.
