Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan bought the first ticket of Nag Ashwin’s highly-anticipated film Kalki 2898 AD during the movie’s pre-release event in Mumbai on Wednesday. Kalki 2898 AD producer C. Aswani Dutt handed over the ticket to Amitabh on stage. The actor, who paid Rs 500 after receiving the first ticket of the movie, was all praise for the producer for being extremely supportive throughout the film’s shoot.
Amitabh even touched Aswani Dutt’s feet and called him “the most simple and humble human being” he’s ever met. “Every time you are on set, he is the first person to be there. He is at the airport to receive you. Jab kabhi bhi hum koi aisa kaam kar rahe ho jo inko lage nahi karna chahiye kyuki takleef hogi, he’ll be like, ‘don’t make them do these stunts or have you taken precautions or not?’ Nobody thinks like this. Thank you so much sir,” Amitabh said during the event.
The trailer for Kalki 2898 AD was released recently, surpassing expectations. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. The trailer suggests a futuristic take on the Mahabharat. The story begins in Kaashi, a land rich in resources, ruled by Saswata Chatterjee’s character, who demands complete loyalty. A prophecy reveals a child will overthrow him, and this child is carried by Deepika Padukone’s character. To protect his reign, the king puts a bounty on her head.
Prabhas’ character, Bhairava, a top hunter, believes it’s his destiny to capture her. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama aims to protect her. The trailer ends with an intense glimpse of Kamal Haasan, leaving fans excited.
Kalki 2898 AD is set to release on June 27, 2024.
