Amazon Prime's Fallout Renewed For Season 2; Here's What You Need To Know
The series, inspired by the acclaimed video game franchise, unfolds in a post-apocalyptic world.

Amazon has officially renewed its live-action sci-fi series Fallout for a second season, just one week after its debut. Although details about the upcoming season are not officially disclosed, the announcement confirms that viewers can expect more from the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout. The show has already made a significant impact with Amazon reporting that it has quickly become one of the top three most-watched titles on Prime Video. The series has also been noted as the most-watched season globally since the premiere of Rings of Power in 2022.

The series, inspired by the renowned video game franchise, takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting where characters grapple with moral dilemmas and societal obstacles. The first season of this eight-episode drama was officially released on April 10, 2024.

Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon MGM Studios, praised the creators and cast, saying, “Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have captivated the world with this ground-breaking, wild ride of a show. The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise,”

He further added, “The cast led by Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan have knocked it out of the park! We’d like to thank Jonah and Lisa and our friends at Bethesda for bringing the show to us as well as Geneva and Graham for coming aboard as showrunners. We are thrilled to announce season two after only one week out and take viewers even farther into the surreal world of Fallout,” as per a report by Variety.

Set in Los Angeles, Amazon’s rendition of Fallout follows three distinct perspectives: Lucy (Ella Purnell), a vault dweller; Maximus (Aaron Moten), a member of the Brotherhood of Steel and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins). Rather than directly adapting Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG, the show offers a fresh narrative within the same universe. “Similar to a player in the video game, we explore paths that intrigue us,” explained executive producer Graham Wagner to The Verge. “And we hope that these are shared interests,” he added.

The series’ success adds to a string of well-received video game adaptations, including HBO’s The Last of Us and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Fans are eagerly anticipating the new season, especially after the tantalizing tease in the first season finale, hinting at a possible journey to the iconic New Vegas location from the game franchise.
