Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna got married on January 17, 2001. They have two children, a son named Aarav and a daughter named Nitara. In a recent episode of The Ranveer Show podcast, Akshay Kumar shared insights about dealing with breakups and heartbreak before his relationship with Twinkle.
Reflecting on his past breakups, Akshay mentioned that whenever he faced breakups, which happened 2-3 times, he would focus on exercising to channelize his emotions, especially his anger, “Mere sath jab break-up hua tha, 2-3 baar hua hai (Whenever I had a breakup, I had 2-3 of them), I used to exercise more. Channelise it. Because there was so much of anger, so you have to channelise it,” he shared.
Despite being linked with actresses like Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty, and Pooja Batra, Akshay expressed that working out and maintaining a disciplined routine, including controlling his diet, helped him cope with heartbreak. He described this approach as similar to how a martial artist might handle a breakup. He explained, “I get into working out more. Khana bhi daba ke khana that (I would eat a lot). I think that is a way a martial artist would deal with a break-up. I believe that is the only way we understand it (heartbreak).”
While Akshay and Raveena were in a relationship in the mid-90s and even got engaged, they eventually went their separate ways. Akshay went on to marry Twinkle in 2001, while Raveena married film producer-businessman Anil Thadani in 2004.
Raveena also shared her thoughts on their broken engagement in a 2023 interview, mentioning that despite the breakup, they still maintain a cordial relationship when they meet socially. She highlighted that people move on from relationships, including engagements, and it’s a common part of life. She had told ANI, “We were a hit pair, during Mohra, and even now, when we bump into each other socially, we all meet, we all chat. Everyone moves on. Girls have been changing their boyfriends every week in colleges, but one engagement that has broken is still stuck to my head, I don’t know why. Everyone moves on, people have divorces, they move on, what’s the big deal.”
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is awaiting his next, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff. The action entertainer promises to be a visual treat for fans and cinema lovers. Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar and backed by Jackky Bhagnani, the film has generated quite a buzz around itself. The makers have also dropped the trailer. In the trailer, Akshay and Tiger go to great lengths to protect the nation from a terrorist attack. They perform intense stunts and deliver impactful dialogues. Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the antagonist, Kabir, who has hijacked a potent, powerful and dangerous weapon and Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are entrusted with the task of getting it back safely.
