If you want to put purchasing power to the test this May then you're in luck - charitable shopping has never been more fashionable. Here are some of the fashion initiatives this month that will let you help others.
One Day Without Shoes
Every year, footwear brand TOM'S celebrates one day without shoes to raise awareness for children's health and education. On May 10, the brand will launch its annual social media campaign resulting in donating 100,000 pairs of shoes to disadvantaged children in 10 countries. All you have to do to take part is publish a public photo on Instagram of either your own TOMS shoes or your bare feet accompanied by the hashtag #withoutshoes.
Smart swimsuits
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and to help the cause, J. Crew is partnering with Melanoma Research Alliance and The Skin Cancer Foundation, donating a portion of the sale price of every J.Crew swimsuit sold to each organization throughout the month. The label will donate up to $25,000 to the support of skin cancer research and prevention, and will also host pop-up stores across the US from May 12 through May 15.
Anti-Aging kits
Supermodel Christie Brinkley has announced the launch of the Ageless Beauty Set ($69), a limited edition anti-aging skincare kit from her Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare line, in honor of Mother's Day in the US. The set includes the Uplift + IR Defense Firming Neck & Décolleté Cream, designed to help firm, smooth, brighten and rejuvenate the look of the delicate skin of the neck and chest, and Refocus Under Eye Treatment, an anti-aging serum that aims to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. For every kit sold from now through the end of 2016 (while supplies last), the brand will donate 20 percent of the purchase price to Smile Train, the world's largest cleft charity.
