Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, and Shakib Al Hasan are some of the big-ticket players who were released by Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, the franchise decided to part ways with a huge pool of players as they look forward to fine-tuning the squad with the return of their regular captain Shreyas Iyer.

KKR have retained their Shreyas Iyer, middle-order mainstay Nitish Rana and prime finisher Rinku Singh. The Kolkata-based franchise has also opted to stick with Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy, who are also part of their Indian core.
From the foreign contingent, KKR have parted ways with all-rounders Shardul Thakur, and Bangladesh pair of Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das, along with Kiwi pacers Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee.
The IPL 2024 auction will be held place in the United Arab Emirates on December 19, 2023, which is the first time it is being held outside India.
