JAIPUR: Tension prevailed at the district headquarters hospital here on Wednesday morning after a pregnant woman died due to alleged medical negligence.The woman, identified as Sanjukta Das (26), a resident of Bari Daragha in Jajpur district, was admitted to the gynaecology department of the hospital on Tuesday evening for delivery. She gave birth to a baby girl in the night, but developed complications and died on Wednesday morning.Family members of the deceased alleged that the doctors did not attend to her despite their repeated pleas. They also alleged that the doctor and nurses did not take proper care of the patient even after greasing their palms.Tusshar Ranjan, Sajukta’s husband, alleged that he had paid ` 2,000 to a doctor to attend to his wife.Following the incident, family members of the deceased gheraoed the medical staff demanding stern action against them. The agitators were pacified after intervention by police. The CDMO Deepak Pursty promised to look into the issue.
