New Delhi: Debutante designer Ankita's collection at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week was a tribute to the land of Ladakh, taking inspirations from its ancient crafts and intricately incorporating them onto the modern fabrics.
The shapes mostly confined to western parameters were on the likes of fan-shaped pleating on the tube dresses. The cape acted like an outward extension of the garment.
Multiple paneling formed the key elements of the collection. Tulle layering on smaller bodies enhanced the overall visual appearance.
Voluminous and body hugging silhouettes went side by side. Another element, the asymmetric cut, which has been quite a favourite feature of the season, is also noticeable.
The palette revolved around sand nude, ice green, turquoise and coral red, seeking inspiration from the barren solid landscapes and grey mountains.
It's the art and craft of this particular region which makes it a perfect destination, despite the fact that life moves and rebounds
against static non-colorful surroundings.
