Walkie-talkie thief arrested

BANGALORE: A youth who had allegedly snatched the walkie-talkie of a police constable to pose as a policeman has been arrested by HAL police.The accused has been identified as Somashekhar (21), a native of Kammasandra, Bangarpet.He was a construction worker.His dream was to become a policeman and he had even cleared the physical fitness test and was issued a hall ticket to appear for the written exams in the police department.But, he used the hall ticket to pose as a policeman and tried to cheat people by checking their vehicles.Police said that he had hidden the stolen wireless set behind his house and had covered it with bricks.On Friday night, some people had found a man checking vehicles alone near the Marathhalli Bridge.They grew suspicious and questioned him and the accused claimed that he was a policeman.When he failed to produce his identity card, thet nabbed him and called the HAL police.The night beat policemen, including head constable Gangadhar, and a constable came to take him to the station.Head constable Gangadhar was taking him in an auto and the constable was going ahead on a motorcycle.The accused threatened the head constable with a knife and snatched the wireless set and jumped out of the autorickshaw, said the police.
